These glamping yurts would have a Herefordshire pub next…

Plans have been put forward for “glamping yurts” alongside a rural Herefordshire pub.

Julian Hyde of Roundhouse Yurts has applied (number 240364) for planning permission to station four yurts on 0.9 hectares of farmland to the west of The Nags Head, near the Golden Valley village of Peterchurch.

Glamping “is one of the largest growth sectors” in UK tourism, which the firm wishes to tap into “to help diversify their existing yurt hire business”, according to a statement with the application.

Measuring around five metres in diameter and 3.2m in height, the yurts would only be in use between April and September inclusive.

Each would have a timber-clad free-standing toilet and field kitchen alongside, and there would also be separate communal twin shower unit. All structures would be taken down out of season.

Parking would be provided at the road entrance, while there are bus stops at the separately owned pub, the application points out.

The site is well screened by mature hedges on all sides, it adds, while plan would meet local and county planning goals of boosting tourism and the rural economy.

Comments on the application can be made via Herefordshire Council’s website until March 5.
