The team of travel experts gave The Quiet Site its top spot in its Awards for Excellence.

Set in Ullswater in the Lake District National Park, the little-known holiday park scooped first place thanks to its unique features.

While the site has been welcoming guests since 1963, it’s undergone a hefty transformation in the last 60 years.

The old camping field is now an award-winning sustainable holiday park with a range of accommodation options including a self-catering holiday cottage, luxury Glamping Cabins, timber Camping Pods, underground Glamping Burrows, and carbon-positive Gingerbread Houses.

There are also all-weather tent pitches and hard-standing pitches for caravans and motorhomes.

As well as a range of accommodation options, The Quiet Site also has several facilities onsite including family shower rooms, a bar, a zero waste shop, and a pizzeria and creperie.

The Quiet Bar has been dubbed “the best bar in Britain” and is set inside a traditional Cumbrian Long barn style with a selection of cosy chairs and tables and a log fire.

It also hosts live music events and has its own locally brewed beer too.

There’s also a separate children’s playroom, which is adjacent to the bar and includes a football table, an air hockey table, and a pool table.

Holidaymakers will also be treated to views of Ullswater Lake too.

Other facilities include a dog, boot, and bike washroom, a laundry room, and a book exchange library.

Despite having everything a holidaymaker might need, there are plenty of local attractions in the nearby area including Aira Force Waterfalls and Lowther Castle & Gardens.

Daniel Holder, Managing Director of The Quiet Site said: “We are over the moon to have been awarded this most prestigous recognition by VisitEngland.

“Our team works tirelessly to provide guests with both the best and the most sustainable stay possible, reflected in the fact that 84% of our bookings come from repeat stays or recommendations.

“We hope to welcome both returning and new guests for many years to come.”

VisitEngland Director Andrew Stokes congratulated winners on their achievements.

He added: “Competition this year was fierce with customer service excellence evident across every category, thanks to the passion and dedication of individuals.”

A new holiday park with “floating” lodges, a restaurant, and a water sports area is set to open in UK.

Plans have been approved for Hollybush Lakes Holiday Park in Aldershot in Hampshire.

Hollybush Lakes Holiday Park isn’t the only new resort that’s been planned for the UK market.

A £300 million holiday resort has been planned for the UK and is set to include a snow centre and a tropical waterpark.

The plans for Rhydycar West in Wales are set to be submitted to the council soon.

The 575-acre site, which is situated on a former coal mine, will include the UK’s largest and longest indoor snow centre, a tropical waterpark, and an adventure centre.
