Six Flags ‘glamping’ resort can cost more than Disney hotels
Six Flags Great Adventure’s new ‘glamping’ resort is open for reservations starting June 14, offering what the Jackson, New Jersey parks calls “luxurious accommodations” and scenic views within the adjacent Wild Safari park.
This may sound similar to the pitch for Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – except the Disney resort can often be cheaper.

The Great Adventure resort, called Savannah Sunset Resort & Spa, will cost somewhere around $600-$700 per night for a couples’ suite with a king bed, based on Theme Park Tribune’s checks of dates ranging from opening weekend to a mid-week stay at the end of August. A larger family “glamping suite” for four guests, that includes a king bed and two twin beds, will run between $800 and $1,100 per night. Higher rates will apply to suites with a veranda and with safari views.
Savannah Sunset Resort & Spa also requires a two-night minimum stay, but comes with additional perks, including breakfast, a park ticket for each guest for the duration of the stay, and a chance to feed the park’s giraffes.
In contrast, on the same June 14 weekend, rates offered through Disney’s website at Animal Kingdom Lodge ranged from $507 per night for a room with two queen beds and a parking lot view up to $724 for a room with a view of that resort’s savannah.
A mid-week stay at the end of August was an even more favorable comparison for the Disney hotel: $457 per night for the standard view room and $621 per night for the savannah view. Both rooms can sleep up to four guests. (Rack rates at Animal Kingdom Lodge can go as high as $888 per night, but only during the extremely busy holiday season.)
Six Flags Great Adventure park president Brian Bacica said of the new resort, ““We are excited to welcome guests this spring to the Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa, where opulence meets the open savannah in the heart of New Jersey. Our team is planning every detail to create a luxury experience welcoming guests to enjoy the beauty and uniqueness of our resort. Whether you seek relaxation, a family adventure, or a romantic getaway, Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa promises to exceed your expectations.”

The addition makes Great Adventure one of the few Six Flags parks to have official on-site accommodations, alongside Six Flags Darien Lake and Six Flags Great Escape, both located in New York.
Great Adventure’s other major addition for the 2024 season – the park’s 50th anniversary – will be Flash: Vertical Velocity, the park’s 15th roller coaster.
