AN INCREDIBLE Scottish glamping site that featured on two Channel 4 shows has hit the market.

Marthrown of Mabie is a magical, off-grid glamping site that is described as a “hidden gem” in the heart of the forest near Dumfries.

It has been with current owners Pam and Mike for 18 years, but the TV favourites are now looking to retire by the end of next year.

And, as a result, they’re hoping they can pass on their beloved venue to new owners to look after.

Not only is Marthrown of Mabie a glamping site, but it is also an award-winning wedding venue that is well-loved by locals.

The site itself consists of various accommodations including yurts, cottages, bell tents and an Iron Age roundhouse.

They can all be hired individually for private holidays, or the entire site can be hired for a party or wedding.

There is even a wood-fired hot tub and sauna for guests looking to enjoy a night under the dark skies in the woods.

It’s probably fair to say we are pretty unique; for a start we are completely off-grid and over a mile from our nearest neighbour. For these and many other reasons, our strap line is: ‘Simply Something Different’

With it being over a mile from its nearest neighbour, the venue is described as being completely off-grid, making it incredibly unique.

It has welcomed thousands of visitors over the years – especially after it found fame on TV shows including Don’t Tell the Bride and Four in a Bed.

In 2022, film crews visited Dumfries and Galloway to capture Pam and Mike’s incredible venue for Four in a Bed.

The episode aired at the end of last year, where they were revealed to be the runners-up in the episode.

This TV appearance came ten years after it was featured on Don’t Tell the Bride in 2012.

It is also about to appear on BBC’s ‘Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes’ in the coming future.

Pam and Mike announced that the incredible venue is now up for sale on social media.

In a touching post on Facebook, they urged interested parties to get in touch with them about the details.

You have made Marthrown such a magical place. A well-deserved retirement I’d say! Sending you both love

However, they never included an estimated price range in the post.

Despite putting it up for sale this summer, they are not expecting to hand over the reins until next year.

It read: “LOOKING FOR A COMPLETE CHANGE OF LIFESTYLE??

“After 18 wonderful years Pam and Mike are ready to sell Marthrown of Mabie as a going concern and retire by the end of 2025 (we are well into pensionable age already!).

“We are a multi award-winning wedding and events venue, glamping and campsite in the heart of Mabie Forest near Dumfries in SW Scotland that has welcomed thousands of visitors.

“It’s probably fair to say we are pretty unique; for a start we are completely off-grid and over a mile from our nearest neighbour.

“For these and many other reasons, our strap line is: ‘Simply Something Different’.

“We have appeared on prime-time television programs ‘Don’t Tell the Bride’ and ‘Four in a Bed’ and about to be for a third time – this time the BBC’s ‘Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes’.

“For a flavour of the business, check out our website.”

‘PERFECT WOODLAND HIDEAWAY’

MARTHROWN of Mabie was named as one of Scotland’s most beautiful camping sites amid ‘staycation’ boom in 2022.

More people than ever seem to agree as 4.5million holiday-makers across the UK tried camping or caravanning for the first time in the last three years due to the coronavirus pandemic and the cost of living crisis.

And research from commercial property firm Savoy Stewart revealed the eight most beautiful campsites across the country.

And this site, located down a forest track, was described as the perfect woodland hideaway.

You can pitch your own tent at the site, located in the Mabie Forest, in Dumfries and Galloway.

Or for something different, campers can hire a yurt or tipi and enjoy a wood fired sauna or dip in the hot tub under a starry sky.

The site has even styled itself as an alternative wedding venue, with loved-up couples getting hitched under the forest canopy or inside its Celtic Roundhouse.

Fans were quick to flock to the comments of the post as they shared their fond memories of the venue.

One person said: “End of an era, I’ve loved every second of my time in that magical place”.

Another added: “You have made Marthrown such a magical place. A well-deserved retirement I’d say! Sending you both love”.

Someone else wrote: “Wish we could get this place, what a gem”.
