Valentine’s Day is drawing near and many of those in relationships will be excitedly planning date ideas ahead of the most romantic evening of the year.
However, if they’re lucky, they might also be able to rake in a bit of cash while gazing happily into one another’s eyes, all thanks to an exciting new job posting for an ‘official date tester’.
Those who successfully bag the role will need to report back on their dates, detailing factors such as how much fun they had, how much they were able to enjoy one other’s company and how likely they would be to recommend the experience to others.
Lucky applicants, chosen by gift retailer Prezzybox, will be handed £300 to compensate for any expenses and travel costs, as well as for their time.

Ophelia Griffiths, Brand and Partnerships Manager at Prezzybox, said: “At Prezzybox, we love getting into the romantic spirit – especially at Valentine’s Day.
“Our experiences are becoming increasingly popular as Valentine’s gifts, but we need to know which are the best – this is the perfect opportunity for someone to connect with a partner or date, document their time together (not in too much detail, of course!) and report back to the team with their opinions”.
Prezzybox experience experts have selected three popular experiences to test out the romance factor, including a mix of classic romantic date ideas and more adventurous options.

Prezzybox’s number one best-selling experience is the Glamping Break for Two, with the brand selling more than 500 vouchers in 2021 alone. This will be the tester’s very first assignment and will see them treat their date to a one-night stay at a picturesque campsite location of their choice.
The second option will involve trying out a Bounce Below for Two experience, testing out the romance factor as well as the trampolines at a 176-year-old disused cavern in the gorgeous Welsh countryside. Perfect for couples who prioritise having plenty of fun and laughter together.
Finally, the Date Tester will swan off on a Spa Retreat with Afternoon Tea for Two, enjoying peaceful spa facilities while sampling an array of tasty treats. There are certainly worse jobs out there.
Griffiths added: “We know going for meals and to the cinema are lovely ideas for dates, but we want to understand if our ‘outside the box’ experiences spark the same sort of romance for love birds. Glamping, underground trampolining and segway driving aren’t your typical first dates, but let’s see if they work just as well – or better than typical Valentine’s date ideas!”
