Glamping site overlooking Kanmon Straits taking bookings

SHIMONOSEKI, Yamaguchi Prefecture–A high-end camping site is offering overnight stays before it becomes fully operational in March this year.

Glampdome Shimonoseki is equipped with 10 dome tents for those keen on glamping (glamorous camping) and barbecuing while overlooking the Kanmon Straits between the main islands of Honshu and Kyushu.

The vacation facility was founded by Restoration Co., a glamping company based in Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture.

One section has two large dome tents, limited to one group of guests of up to 10 people per night.

There are also two sections for dog lovers. Each one is installed with a dog run.

Guests can enjoy barbecues with ingredients directly brought from the Karato Ichiba market in Shimonoseki, as well as take meals in all-weather dining spaces.

The site will be complete with saunas when it fully opens.

“We want to make the site a facility that represents Shimonoseki, offering great views of the Kanmon Straits and promoting the food culture of Shimonoseki,” said company president Hikaru Moriwaki, 32, who is from the city.
