First look at deluxe glamping vision for Quinns Rocks…

A proposed ecotourism vision for the former Quinns Rocks caravan park site has been revealed, featuring an oceanfront infinity pool, deluxe glamping tents and a licenced cafe.

The City of Wanneroo has released a first look at how Heritage WA Investments plan to transform the site, which has sat vacant since the caravan park was demolished in 2014.

Heritage WA Investments run Buckland Estate in Northam, a heritage homestead used for accommodation and weddings, but will establish a new company to deliver and operate the Quinns Rocks development.

It is proposed the ecotourism development would be entirely contained within the caravan park site’s existing 1.9ha footprint, with no extra land clearing required.

A city report said the redevelopment aimed to be “environmentally sensitive” and was designed to retain existing trees.

The grounds would feature three separate tent areas featuring outposts, family and deluxe tents.

The outpost tents will be smaller 3x3m custom-built tents with air-conditioning and bathrooms.

Family tents will feature steel frames and a canvas roof and will be fully furnished and powered, with an ensuite, air-conditioning and outside decking.

If guests are looking for something a bit more luxurious, deluxe fully furnished “glamping tents” with canvas and glass walls will also be available.

“The glamping tents, facilities and lawns will transform the site into a luxurious place to visit,” the proposal said.

The tent areas will circle a central licenced outdoor cafe and function space, with glass walls opening on to a large grassed area and an infinity pool overlooking Quinns Beach.

This area would be open to the public but could be reserved for private and community events.

“This could include community meetings, private functions such as weddings, birthdays as well as corporate retreats and small conferences,” the report said.

“Community access to the lawned area would be encouraged and the lawned area could be activated for regular and one-off community activities such as fitness programs, sunset concerts and community events.”

The drawcard feature would be a luxurious “reflection pool” with a “long, shallow children’s paddling pool” with “an infinity edge for social media photographs”.
