3.4 acre Wicklow site with planning permission for glamping…
A 3.4-acre site on the doorstep of the Blessington Greenway with planning permission for a ‘Greenway Tourism Glamping Centre’ has been placed on the market.
Located 50m from the shores of Blessington Lake and fronting the Blessington Greenway, the owners of the expansive property received approval from An Bord Pleanála in January for five detached accommodation pods, three camper van serviced bays, a management centre, guest bathroom facilities, shared kitchen and a publicly accessible toilet.
Wicklow County Council green-lit the development in August 2022, granting their approval with 13 conditions, including that the development remain in single ownership, not be subdivided, and that the glamping pods be available for short-term holiday letting only for a maximum duration of four weeks.
Granting their approval, a Wicklow County Council planner noted the site’s location within proximity to an established heritage and tourist area (Blessington Lakes) and that they considered the development would not injure the amenities of the area, would be acceptable in terms of traffic safety and convenience and would not be prejudicial to public health.
In September 2022, following Wicklow County Council’s approval, a third-party appeal was lodged, and the case was referred to An Bord Pleanála, who upheld the local authority’s decision at the turn of this year.
“This is a unique opportunity to acquire a much-needed tourism accommodation site on the Blessington Greenway,” property agent J. P. & M. Doyle remarked.
“The Blessington Greenway walk links the historic town of Blessington with the Palladian mansion at Russborough House, and along the way you will have the opportunity to appreciate the magnificent scenery and wildlife in the area.
“This property is immediately located off the N81 and only a two minute drive Blessington Town Centre. It is within easy access to Dublin and only a short 15 minute drive to Citywest Business park and 25 minutes to the M50/ Red Cow roundabout, providing quick and easy access to Dublin and its suburbs.”
